Prof. Andrew Goodman LLB MBA PhD FCIArb FInstCPD FRSA has over 40 years of experience as an independent commercial barrister and nearly 30 years as an international consulting mediator.

Andrew is Convenor of the Standing Conference of Mediation Advocates, Director of the Association of Mediation Assessors, Trainers and Instructors and a member of the Bar ADR Panel, the Independent Standards Commission of the International Mediation Institute and Co-Chair of the IMI Mediation Advocacy Appraisal Sub-Committee. 

He is an award-winning thought leader in the field of mediation and mediation advocacy, and practices in up to 20 jurisdictions both as a mediator and an IMI Mediation Advocate.

Andrew holds a number of visiting academic posts and advises governments, Bars, corporations and institutions on conflict avoidance and dispute management systems.

Andrew is happy to discuss with parties and their representatives the appropriate style needed for the particular dispute, from ‘light touch’ to ‘strongly directive’, and where required, to consider a more evaluative approach.

Andrew has mediated several hundred mediations and, since 1995, has been recommended as a leading junior in professional indemnity work and mediation in the Legal 500 for 25 years ( qualifying for the Legal 500 ‘Hall of Fame’). For four years he was listed in Chambers Directory as a leading practitioner in ADR. 

He is currently a Professor of Conflict Management and Dispute Resolution Studies at Rushmore University and is a visiting mediation and dispute management trainer to the Hong Kong, Nepal, Istanbul, Ankara, Antalya and Izmir Bar Associations and the Judicial Academy of the Nepal Supreme Court, the Nepal International ADR Centre, the Thailand Arbitration Centre, and the Lagos and Enugu State Multi-Door Courthouses. 

Andrew is a faculty trainer for the Chartered Institute of Arbitrators, ADR Group, Practice Forte Singapore, IIAM India, SCMA Nigeria, Thailand Arbitration Centre, Bangkok, an ABTA ArbEx panel arbitrator and conciliator, and an ADR Group certified online mediator. He was formerly Director of Mediation Training, RICS DRS 2007-2011 and RICS Faculty trainer 2007-2013.
